What is Yoga?
Yoga uses breathing techniques, exercise and meditation. It helps to improve health and happiness. Patanjali was a pioneer of classical yoga. He defined yoga as "the cessation of the modification of the mind".
YOGA HAS BEEN PRACTISED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS AS A LIFE PHILOSOPHY TO JOIN THE INDIVIDUAL WITH WHAT PRACTITIONERS CALL THE DIVINE, UNIVERSAL SPIRIT, COSMIC CONSCIOUSNESS. HOWEVER, FEW INDIVIDUALS IN THE WEST PRACTISE YOGA THIS WAY. INSTEAD, YOGA IS PERFORMED AS PART OF AN EXERCISE PROGRAM TO INCREASE GENERAL HEALTH, REDUCE STRESS, IMPROVE FLEXIBILITY AND MUSCLE STRENGTH ALONG WITH ALLEVIATING CHRONIC PAIN.
AS YOGA IS A LOW IMPACT ACTIVITY IT IS COMMONLY USED AS PART OF A PHYSICAL THERAPY AND REHAB OF INJURIES.
"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of silver or gold."
